Marchese is a designer turned beekeeper and is best known as the visionary behind the beloved brand Red Bee Honey. In 2000 Marina was invited to visit a neighbor’s apiary where her first taste of fresh honey would change the course of her life. She quit her job, built a beehive and wrangled some Italian honeybees to become a full-time beekeeper. Passionate about environmental issues around honeybees and food policy, Marina's best-selling book Honeybee Lessons from an Accidental Beekeeper chronicles her entrepreneurial journey into beekeeping, opening her eyes to the wonders of the natural world of honeybees, pollination and their direct connection to growing food. Her second book, The Honey Connoisseur: Selecting, Tasting, and Pairing Honey, co-authored with Kim Flottum (editor of Bee Culture Magazine), is regarded as the definitive guide to honey, its floral sources and flavors. She is the founder of the American Honey Tasting Society and a member of the National Register of experts in the sensory analysis of honey which gives her the opportunity to travel and educate the public about the wonders of honey. Activities are open to the public at no charge and start with refreshments at 6 p.m. followed by the annual meeting at 6:45 p.m. and the speaker at 7 p.m. More information is available at redbee.com.
