Filling in the Blanks Hosts SOUPer Bowl Drive Now- Through 2/9/2026

Since 2013, Filling in the Blanks has provided weekend meals to nourish children year-round. This February, they are kicking off the annual SOUPer Bowl drive to see how many cans of soup the community can “score” to feed local kids.

 

In celebration of the 2026 Super Bowl, they are collecting 10–12 oz cans of Tomato Soup and Chicken Soup for their weekend meal bag program. Community members, friends, families, and classmates are encouraged to participate.

Norwalk Conservatory presents Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead

The Norwalk Conservatory presents Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead by Burt V. Royal, February 19–21 at Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport. This bold, heartfelt coming-of-age play reimagines familiar Peanuts-inspired characters as teenagers navigating friendship, identity, and growing up. 

 

Brought to life by the extraordinary theater students of The Norwalk Conservatory. Downtown Cabaret Theatre is conveniently located just off Route 95 with ample parking.

Join INTEMPO for the Cultural Crossover Concert “Song of the Quetzal”

INTEMPO will host Song of the Quetzal on Saturday, March 7, a symphonic celebration of music from Central America. The annual Cultural Crossover Concert will feature over 100 young musicians from INTEMPO and the Norwalk Youth Symphony performing together for an unforgettable musical experience.

DVCC Teen Events Highlight Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

The Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) will host a free Teen Movie Night on Tuesday, February 27, from 5–8 pm. at Sono Collection as part of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM) activities. This event provides a safe and engaging space for teens to gather, learn, and connect.

In addition, DVCC encourages the community to participate in Wear Orange Day on Tuesday, February 10, to show support for healthy teen relationships and raise awareness of teen dating violence.

WBDC Launches Next Round of Ignite Grants for Women-Owned Businesses

The Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC) opened applications for its Ignite Grant Program with a deadline of March 18.

 

The Ignite Grant Program provides up to $10,000 to women-owned businesses in Connecticut that have been operating for two or more years, with revenues between $25,000 and $2 million. Since its inception, the program has awarded 469 grants totaling over $4.3 million to support business growth.

WBDC will host weekly one-hour informational webinars throughout February and March. There will be six sessions in English and three sessions in Spanish to guide prospective applicants through the process.

Rowayton Arts Center “Abstraction” Exhibition Opens February 8

A new show at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “Abstraction,” will be on view February 8 through March 7. This all media exhibition features artwork by RAC Exhibiting Members with a larger degree of independence from visual references.

 

The opening reception is free and open to the public on Sunday, February 8 from 4-6pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12-5 pm and Saturday from 10am-1 pm.

 

RAC celebrates the study, creation and appreciation of the arts through classes, exhibitions and events open to all in the community. For over 60 years, this nonprofit organization has been a cultural gem in Rowayton, CT. The gallery and art school overlook the scenic Five Mile River at 145 Rowayton Avenue with space for regional artists to exhibit their art and a studio for workshops and classes at all levels offered to children and adults.

Norwalk Hospital Opens Cohen Pediatric Emergency Center with $1.74 Million Grant

Norwalk Hospital, part of Northwell Health, has opened the new Cohen Pediatric Emergency Center, made possible by a $1.74 million grant from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation. The center enhances seven remodeled emergency rooms, each equipped with pediatric-focused equipment and marine-themed murals in partnership with the Maritime Aquarium to create a comforting, child-friendly environment.

 

The center also expands behavioral health resources, including a Child Life Specialist to provide therapeutic play, education, and reassurance for children and their families. Short observation care is available for common illnesses such as asthma, croup, and dehydration, with access to over 20 pediatric specialties for follow-up care through Connecticut Children’s.

 

Staffed daily from 11am-11 p.m., the center ensures specialized care close to home. After hours, Norwalk Hospital’s Bauer Emergency Care Center continues to provide pediatric care 24/7.

Norwalk Symphony and New Paradigm Theatre Present Guys and Dolls

The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra and New Paradigm Theatre Company present a one-night-only performance of the classic musical Guys and Dolls on Saturday, February 7 at 7:30 pm. (snow date Sunday, February 8 at 2:00pm) at Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East Avenue.

 

Musical Director Jonathan Yates and Stage Director Kristin Huffman lead a stellar cast, including Desi Amato as Miss Adelaide, Heidi Giberson as Sarah Brown, Jeremiah James as Sky Masterson, and Brian Ray Norris as Nathan Detroit, alongside student and adult actors from New Paradigm Theatre.

?

Tickets start at $10 for students and children and $25 for adults. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to The Pantry at CT State Community College at Norwalk. This year, the Riverbrook Regional YMCA is the performance’s nonprofit partner.
