You could feel the positive energy yesterday at our office in Hartford where we hosted a press conference for Hartford Taste, presented by The Hartford. Over 60 people attended the event and it was great to hear remarks from Shipman & Goodwin LLP’s Leander A. Dolphin, Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam, The Hartford’s Lynn Kennedy, Metro Hartford Alliance’s David Griggs, CEcD, CCE and Hartford Taste’s Marc Sherer. Exciting news for Connecticut's public schools! SB-5, pending Governor approval, will streamline HVAC system inspections starting July 1, 2024. The bill extends assessment requirements to five years and provides financial support through the Indoor Air Quality grant program. School districts are encouraged to plan budgets for HVAC inspections, collaborate with BOEs, consult with environmental/engineering consultants and reevaluate grant opportunities. Compliance with IAQ requirements is still mandatory, making it a priority for districts in 2024.
