Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness Month?   It's a time to reflect on the importance of mental health and to actively engage in breaking down the stigmas associated with mental health challenges. At Pacific House, we recognize the profound connection between homelessness and mental health issues, and we are committed to addressing these challenges as part of our mission to support and empower our community. Mental Health and Homelessness: The Facts   Mental health disorders are prevalent among the homeless population, significantly impacting their ability to secure stable housing and employment. Studies have shown that approximately 25% of homeless individuals in the United States suffer from severe mental health disorders, compared to only 6% of the general population. Additionally, over 45% have some form of mental health issue (National Alliance on Mental Illness, 2021). Join us in making a difference this Mental Health Awareness Month. Your support can transform lives by helping us provide essential services and housing to those facing mental health challenges.

As we journey deeper into the new year, it might seem unconventional to cast our minds back to the festive season. Yet, at Pacific House, we cherish the spirit of giving all year round, affirming that it’s always the perfect time to spotlight kindness and community solidarity. Last December, our team undertook an extraordinary mission to infuse holiday cheer among our residents, a testament to our dedication not just to provide shelter, but to foster a profound sense of belonging and compassion within our community. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor who contributed $10,000, we were able to bring our vision of a festive celebration to life for everyone at Pacific House. This remarkable gift enabled us to curate thoughtful presents that catered to both essential needs and the small luxuries that make the holiday season uniquely joyful. From warm portable heat banks to festive snack gift baskets and special $50 gift cards for personal treats, we ensured each person felt the holiday warmth. Our team, fueled by compassion and community support, worked tirelessly to distribute these gifts of joy across our fourteen permanent supportive houses. 🏠❤️ This initiative wasn't just about gifts; it was a celebration of community, respect, and autonomy. A huge shoutout to everyone involved in bringing smiles and warmth to Pacific House. Your dedication is what truly makes a difference. Let's keep the holiday spirit alive all year!
