We had another fantastic turnout on May 9th for the final Safety Week Standdown at the new South Campus Residence Hall project at UCONN! Safety Managers Brian Maxellon and Josh LaMonte, along with Corporate Safety Director Adam Peters, took a few moments to address the crowd. They emphasized the critical role that each and every one of us plays in maintaining a safe and secure work environment. Their words served as a powerful reminder of our shared commitment to prioritizing safety in all aspects of our work. 🚧 🛠️

While job site safety is 24/7/365 at KBE, we’re celebrating National Construction Safety Week this week, highlighting some of the regular safety events we hold on our jobsites. At the new Piper multi-unit housing project in Norwalk, CT, KBE’s superintendent Jon LaRiviere and Safety Manager Mark DeAngellis, GSP addressed the 200 trade contract staff on site to highlight important safety measures. They were joined by Marianne Bonito of federal OSHA and Marigrace Riley of ConnOSHA. Ms. Bonito spoke to the group as well on the importance of proper fall protection use and fall protection training in construction. KBE hosted lunch as well for everyone on site. The Piper project is the site of KBE’s 8th OSHA Safety Training Partnership, an honor accorded only to firms with exceptional safety records such as KBE’s.

What a night! Associated Builders and Contractors of Connecticut annual membership meeting last night was so well attended and gave us the chance to catch up with many of our trade contractor partners and others. Extra bonus for the night – KBE and our senior leadership was honored with THREE awards and recognition of our 40 years of ABC membership! To start, CEO Michael Kolakowski and CFO Tim O’Brien were each inducted into ABC’s Beam Club, which recognizes ABC’s top membership recruiters for their commitment to growing the association. Mike is one of three individuals to ever reach the Merit Plus Level status in the Beam Club, while Tim has achieved the Beam Club Level. We also received the Merit Cup award for the third time since 2014, which recognizes firms for their excellent leadership, commitment to continued education of employees, industry advocacy, and more.
