🌟We were thrilled to welcome bright honors accounting students from The Ohio State University to our Norwalk, CT headquarters! 📚 The day began with an FASB introduction by Supervising Project Manager Nick Cappiello, followed by insights from Deputy Technical Director Nellie Debbeler. After a short break, GASB Senior Research Manager Tammy Waymire and Postgraduate Technical Assistant Emily Pesce presented an overview of government accounting. The sessions continued with a Taxonomies Overview by Postgraduate Technical Assistant (XBRL) Erik Hovila and concluded with insights into our Postgraduate Technical Assistant Program by Maddie Stopler and Anna Thomas. About us
Established in 1972, the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) is the independent, private-sector, not-for-profit organization based in Norwalk, Connecticut responsible for the oversight, administration, financing, and appointment of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). The FASB and GASB establish and improve financial accounting and reporting standards – known as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, or GAAP – for public and private companies, not-for-profit organizations, and state and local governments in the United States. The FAF directs the effective, efficient, and appropriate stewardship of the FASB and GASB in carrying out their missions; selects and appoints FASB and GASB members and their advisory councils; oversees the Boards’ activities and due process; and promotes and protects the independence of the Boards. The FAF Board of Trustees comprises 14-18 members from varied backgrounds—users, preparers, and auditors of financial statements; state and local government officials; academics; and regulators. The Financial Accounting Foundation (#FAF) has released a call for public feedback as part of its review of the Private Company Council (PCC). With a focus on good governance, FAF Trustees regularly evaluate the PCC's effectiveness, seeking input from stakeholders. This marks the second comprehensive review since 2015. Stakeholders are invited to share their thoughts on the PCC's role in proposing GAAP alternatives and providing private company perspectives to the FASB. Submit comments by May 31, 2024.
